  • Trials

A trial is an opportunity to meet your makeup artist/ or hair-stylist prior to your wedding/event. The trial process is designed to give you the chance to try hairstyles and makeup looks. Our hair and makeup trials are up to 2 hours. It is a good idea to wear something light coloured to your makeup trial, as this will give you a better idea of the overall look. Dark colours can change your skin tone, and may make your makeup look washed out. Make sure your hair is clean and dry ready for styling. Wear a light moisturiser, and have a clean fresh face.

To get the most out of your trial experience, have some ideas of styles you like from either Pinterest, Website, Magazines or Google searches to help the artist know what you are interested in trying.

Your input is extremely important to enable us to design your look for you that is perfect for you.

The Artist who does your trial will also be doing your hair and / or makeup on your special day. The price for hair and makeup trials is provided on our services & prices page.

Applicable service fees will be added to the invoice as needed and if applicable.

Please ask for more details regarding travel and possible assistants.

Additional fees apply for Holidays such as:

  • New Years Eve/Day
  • Valentines Day
  • Halloween
  • Australia Day
  • Easter Sunday/Monday
  • Good Friday
  • All Public Holidays
  • Christmas Eve/Day

We always make sure we arrive on time and allocate enough time for each person. If necessary we can bring an additional hairstylist/makeup assistant and we will write you a schedule in advance for the morning. As the bride, ideally your makeup will be one of the last things you do before putting on your dress and we will stay until you are about to leave to ensure that you walk down the aisle looking fresh and radiant; ready for your big moment!

Every Bride differs with this - however, we do recommend that you have organised yours and your Bridesmaids' dresses (if applicable) as well as your flowers and any other major factors such as colour schemes and wedding location prior to the trials. We feel that between 2 and 4 months from the wedding is a nice time-frame.

There is no requirement to have a trial. All of our artists are highly experienced and are happy to assist you in designing a look on the wedding day. However we do recommend a trial as it is a good opportunity to meet your artist, discuss your desires for the day, and to experience wearing the hair and makeup which will be different to your everyday style. You can get a feel for what maintenance will be required throughout the day, practice wearing false lashes if you don't normally wear them and trial different styles until you are 100% happy. There is nothing better than having no surprises on the wedding day!

Absolutely! Depending on your timings, your stylist can bring an assistant along with them. This works well if you have an early wedding and would rather not start at sunrise! We always use professional, qualified and trained assistants who are experienced in bridal makeup/hair and have previously worked as part of a wedding day morning.

We are a fully mobile service, so we come direct to our clients either in home, venue, studio or location. This eliminates any stress especially on wedding days of having to travel around to salons or studios.

You will be emailed through an invoice which will have all payment options such as bank transfer, Debit/Credit Card or PayPal once you have requested to secure a booking date/time.

Simply Bella Beauty is mobile to you for your TRIALS and on your WEDDING DAY. Our mobile service is efficient and time effective with NO LOCATION FEES within the Metropolitan Brisbane area. However with high petrol costs and tolls there may be a small fee to cover some travel to longer distances. Parking will need to be provided for our artists if you are getting ready in a hotel or in the CBD. Most photographers prefer a mobile hair and make-up service to your home or hotel, as this eliminates the problem of you arriving home late from a salon.

You simply sit back, relax, and enjoy being pampered, without rushing to appointments in another suburb. Mobile is the ONLY way to go on your wedding day!

If you have booked your wedding hair and makeup trial with us, we will get in touch with you to schedule a trial 1-2 months before your wedding day. You are welcome to schedule a trial earlier, however we would recommend having a trial no earlier than 6 months before your wedding day as your taste in styles may still change. It's best to have your dress picked out before the trial to make sure that your look suits the dress.

Please bring with you any reference pictures of hair and makeup looks that you like, along with any fabric swatches, pictures of bouquets or jewellery plus any hair piece (if you have one), veils or other items you feel may be helpful in the design process.

To prepare for your trial, please wash your hair the night prior and come to the trial with a clean face without any product on it, (even moisturiser). This will ensure best results are obtained.

Be open and honest with us, let us know if there’s something you’re not sure of so we have the opportunity to adjust it for you. Airbrush Makeup is ideal for those occasions where you need your makeup to look as flawless as possible, for as long as possible! It is water resistant, sweat-proof, smudge-proof and wears for 15+ hours.

An airbrush makeup application includes everything a standard makeup application does with the addition of airbrushing.
'Airbrushing' is an advanced way to apply foundation and other makeup. The liquid product is sprayed onto the face via an airbrush gun and compressor. The feeling of the application is similar to a spray tan.
Any level of coverage can be achieved, from light to full, whilst still maintaining a skin-like finish. Since airbrushing requires a lot less product than a standard makeup application it feels almost weightless on the skin.

All Artists are personally interviewed, hand-picked and incredibly talented, Simply Bella's hair stylists & makeup artists are required to have years of professional experience. Each qualified applicant is deeply background checked and goes through a rigorous character assessment before joining the team.

For wedding, we recommend the schedule be:

  • Mother of Bride
  • Aunty
  • Grandmother
  • Mother-in-law
  • Bridesmaids
  • Flower girl
  • Bride

By having the bride last or second last it ensures that your makeup is fresh before walking down the aisle.

Please arrive with a makeup free, cleansed and moisturised face. We recommend that you wear the same colour top as your wedding dress.

Please feel free to bring along any photos, magazine clips, Pinterest images of makeup you'd like me to review. A picture of your dress is also most welcome. Everything you bring along to the your trial helps generate a clear picture of how you'd like to see yourself on your special day.

We use professional products that we know will last and look flawless.  We use a wide range of premium brands including but not limited to; Too Faced, Chanel, M.A.C., Marc Jacobs, Face Atelier, Inglot,  Bobbi Brown, Urban Decay and Giorgio Armani, just to name a few. Each of our artist has their own makeup preferences and has a variety of the best available makeup on the market.

In the hair kit you'll find products by DeLorenzo, NAK, Kevin Murphy, Schwarkopf, White Sands and more.
For hot tools we prefer to use Cloud 9, Dyson, Babyliss Pro and more.

Most brides prefer to have a trial or practice run with hair and make up prior to their wedding day. It is not essential, but to make sure that you will be happy on the wedding day, a trial is advisable. Trials for bridesmaids are optional but we do offer them a free consultation at the brides trial when we go through colours, styles, taking notes on their requirements. If a bridesmaid requests a trial, we are happy to oblige!

Our artists will help you make informed decisions on the styles you want. They will listen to your requests and will offer lots of helpful advice and ideas when asked. However, the final decision on the style is yours. They are there to give you the guidance you need without insisting that you have the style they choose for you. The person who does your trial will also be doing your hair and / or make up on your wedding day.

Your trial will go much smoother if you have an idea of what you’re looking for. Know what you don’t want, too-that can be just as helpful! Time to get started on a Pinterest board-the more inspiration you bring, the easier it will be for your stylist to interpret what you want. “Photos of looks you love are always helpful.

Wear your hair down, generally washed the night before with no product in it.
Bring along photos of the kind of styles you like.
Bring your veil, wedding hair accessories, and earrings.
Bring a photo of your dress so your hairstylist can get a sense of the neckline.
Wear white (or whatever colour your wedding dress is)

Come with no makeup on, and your skin moisturised.
Bring pictures of makeup looks you like.
If you plan to wear tan on your wedding day, it's a good idea to have the same shade on.
Wear white (or whatever colour your wedding dress is)
Shape your eyebrows 3 days before the trial.

Of course, we often look after bridesmaids and mum’s for a practice session with the ladies making a nice afternoon of the pampering session.

Yes you will always receive the same bridal hair and makeup artist that you had at your bridal trial.

Ideally you would have chosen your hair accessories before your trial. This is especially important if you choose to wear a veil as your hair style will need to incorporate your chosen veil.

Bridal hair and makeup trials are recommended to make sure you’re going to look perfect on your wedding day. Does your hair hold curl? Will the condition, texture, length allow you to achieve that amazing style you have your heart set on? Will you need extensions to add volume to your fine hair? Will my foundation last all day? All of these are important questions that shouldn't be left till your wedding day. During your hair and makeup trial your stylist can also determine how long they will need with you to produce the best outcome on the big day. Trials are also great for creating good energy and an easy going vibe for the wedding day because by then, everyone has already met and knows one another. This tends to put brides at ease and make it more comfortable, and believe me, when you're relaxed, it helps your hair and makeup look flawless and getting ready will be fun and easy! We don’t think it’s worth leaving some things to chance, but in the end  if you really don’t want to book  a trial, don’t! We know that a trial run is not an option for all brides because of busy schedules or perhaps the budget doesn't allow for it, so in the event you decided not to or can't have a trial, don't worry! just make sure you allow a little extra getting ready time on the day so your stylist can ensure you look and feel gorgeous!!
